Salsa Music - Anthony BleaAnthony Blea: This talented violinist and bandleader emerged as a leading force this year with his self-produced album Virgin de la Caridad. A dedicated classical and Latin musician, he is a veteran master who harbors a bright future. He started studying the violin at age 8 and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at age 11. Upon completion of his preparatory music studies, Anthony traveled to New York City to continue his musical and academic enrichment at the Manhattan School of Music where he received his Bachelor's degree. Most notably Anthony has played with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. Anthony's 8 piece salsa band has been in existence for ten years and their debut CD has enjoyed critical acclaim. Anthony received his Master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, concentrating on String Quartet.

Salsa Dance Music - Los Boleros
Los Boleros: An all Acoustic Latin Music group that is taking off in San Francisco. The music style is Traditional Son Montuno, Son Cubano, Boleros, Traditional Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue and many others. Los Boleros revives old classics like "Dos Gardenias", "Cuarto de Tula", Como Fue" and "Besa me Mucho". Talented and attractive singers, both male and female, are backed up by the traditional instrumentation of Old Havana, Cuba with a visual performance that only Los Boleros can deliver! Passionate solos by Flute, Sultry Saxophone, dreamy violin and smoking Tres Cubano will get you hooked. The Core of the group was founded when Rudy Furlan met Ivan Chancay (Lead Vocals and Ecuadors Embassador of Culture) and began performing as a Duet at small coffee houses.

Salsa Bands - CandelaEdgardo y Candela: A nine piece Salsa Band, based in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1987, and composed of piano, bass, three trombones, conga drums, bongo drums, timbales and vocalists. They have built their 20 year reputation around Edgardo’s impressive skills as a conga drummer and lead singer simultaneously -which is a show in itself-, the pristine vocals of Sandy, the incomparable tight rhythm-piano-bass section of Eric, Omar, Bob and David, and the most powerful trombone playing in the area by Jeff, Marty, and John.  Regardless of all that, the Band truly focuses on pleasing the audiences  dancing needs. Candela's varied repertoire explores a wide array of Latin rhythms including Son, Bolero, Mambo, Cha-cha-chá, Merengue, Cumbia and the more contemporary  Cuban Timba, combined with a touch of Jazz, which makes the band enjoyable for dancers as well as listeners.

Salsa Group BorinquenOrquesta Borinquen: The powerful sounds of Orquesta Borinquen have become a top choice for salsa in the San Francisco Bay Area. As one of the busiest salsa bands in the Bay Area, Orquesta Borinquen is composed of hand picked musicians to make the perfect band to play hard hitting and energetic salsa! Borinquen is an eleven piece salsa band from the SF Bay Area, California. The band's name comes from the original inhabitants of what is known today as Puerto Rico, the Arawak Indians. Their name for the island was "Boriken", & when the Spanish came to the island, the Spanish adaptation of the island's name was translated as Borinquen.

Latin Music - Latin Jazz Youth EnsembleLatin Jazz Youth Ensemble: The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble (LJYE) of San Francisco is a performing group of talented musicians ages ten to 18. They perform Latin jazz classics and original compositions at a level that has landed them gigs at the San Jose Jazz Festival, the KCSM Jazz Festival, KGO Radio, Yerba Buena Gardens, SF Museum of Modern Art, Paramount's Great America and the world-renown jazz club, Yoshi’s. The LJYE has shared the stage with legendary performers such as the great Cuban bassist, Cachao; piano virtuoso Chuchito Valdes; Latin jazz heavyweights Poncho Sanchez and Clare Fischer; and the Grammy Award-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The LJYE mission is to preserve the traditions of Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban music by teaching it to youth and to create role models for aspiring student musicians. The LJYE was chosen as one of the top youth bands in Northern California in the 2004 YouthQuake competition and won First Place (Youth Music) in Carnaval San Francisco in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. They are Artists-in-Residence at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Gardens Festival for 2005-2007.
